PHS/340B Contract Pharmacy

Prior to January 1, 2002, California clinics eligible to purchase through the PHS 340B Drug Pricing Program had only two options: operate an in-house pharmacy or a dispensary to dispense 340B drugs. With the passage of legislation, clinics may now also contract with a retail pharmacy to dispense federally discounted drugs. Clinics retain ownership of the drugs but the contract pharmacy provides all pharmacy services.
